The Mandala Maneuver The Gaian Consortium Series Book 4 eBook Christine Pope

This wants to be a planetary adventure in the style of Burroughs or Klein. Pope just doesn't know how to do it. The monsters appear, and then are just easily dismissed. Same is true for the overall plot with the evil doers. Being sidetracked by expanding her writing style, I suppose, Pope loses focus on the romance and there is no real mystery to it. However, there is nothing bad about the book, and I'd encourage the author to study and read more of the planetary adventure novels of the early 20th century and try to figure out how to do it, because they are much more interesting than roaming around the interstellar shipping lanes in tin cans.

The Mandala Maneuver The Gaian Consortium Series Book 4 eBook Christine Pope Reviews

While the story had potential and several scenes were well crafted and had emotional depth, the overall story just did not capture me. A lot of telling rather than showing occurred, so much so that I found myself scanning rather than reading. Too much repetition of the characters' particular situations did not help matters. The story read like a skeletal version of perhaps ten events and character background plunged into a story. I had no sympathy for the H/h's supposed angst. The ending seemed unsurprising even as it felt contrive.

I will say that Christine Pope is a great writer; this story just didn't work for me. I will still check out her other stories to come in this trilogy.
I liked the first half of the book. it was adventurous and romantic. it made sense and was full of interesting alien experiences. I was enthralled. once the second.half of the book came.around it seemed unnecessary. i was merely reading to get to the inevitable character change and happy ending.
I love this series! They can be read as a stand alone or in order. They are loosely tied together. The Mandala Maneuver was an interesting look into the Zhore and their culture which was great! Christine Pope had great imagery so it really felt like I was hiking through an uninhabited off world jungle.
As I stated in my review for the fourth in this Sci Fi romance series, I'm disappointed that Pope has made the change to graphic sex in this series. That said, I enjoyed this one better than the last due to the sweet romance, and because of the theme of making a stand for what's right, and being against prejudice.
Although I haven't read any of Christine's Pope other series, I am enjoying the Gaian Consortium series so much I have already downloaded two books from her other series-for free, no less. The Gaian Consortium series has just the right blend of romance and science fiction. Oh, and the women in the series so far are not helpless nor have they been abducted by aliens.
Full of intrigue, my mystery, corruption, love against all odds. Great story about a spaceship that crashes odd and beautiful landscape that too and masters must hike through to find their way to help. Odd and dangerous animals I was very impressed with the amount of thought in detail that way into the types of animals that she described. Overall a really good book and a nice read with them good ending
Great story telling. This is a wonderful sci-fi intrigue/romance.

I loved how the romance developed between the two junior ambassadors as they trek across the planet. Lirzhan, the Zhore ambassador knows instantly that Alexa is the one, but proceeds cautiously as he knows she doesn't share the same feelings in the beginning. At first I thought Alex was a little on the immature side, but as I read more about her, I liked her and how she was a survivor. Unfortunately she does have a major TSTL moment which while quickly resolved, it did really tick me off with the characterization. She previously came across as mature, capable, courageous and granted she was under pressure and sleep deprived, I thought her traitorous turn on Lirzhan really made her unworthy of him. If not for this, I would have given this story 5 stars.
